这段时间,我一直在密切关注这次埃博拉疫情的发展,以及各国卫生机构如何努力控制疫情。坦白说,整个情况令人担忧,也让我忍不住想把自己的一些想法写下来。

如今,世界再次把目光放在另一场埃博拉疫情上。这一次,涉及的是一种较罕见的 Bundibugyo 型埃博拉病毒,疫情主要出现在刚果民主共和国(DRC)与乌干达。

根据世界卫生组织(WHO)的报告,疫情最早于2026年5月初被发现。当时,刚果民主共和国伊图里省(Ituri Province)出现多起原因不明的死亡病例,其中甚至包括医护人员感染案例。

随后,实验室检测证实此次疫情属于 Bundibugyo 型埃博拉病毒。这是一种相对罕见的埃博拉毒株,而目前全球仍然没有针对这种毒株正式批准的疫苗。这一点,也让这场疫情显得更加令人不安。

从那之后,疑似与确诊病例持续增加,各国卫生机构也正在加紧进行接触者追踪、隔离措施以及紧急防疫行动。然而,当疫情发生在基础设施薄弱、局势不稳定、医疗资源有限的地区时,防控从来都不是一件容易的事。

而这也让我忍不住开始思考一个令人害怕的问题:

我们真的准备好面对下一场致命疫情了吗?

我认为,大多数人其实并不了解全球医疗体系到底有多脆弱,除非他们曾亲眼见过系统在危机中的崩溃。COVID 已经把这个现实彻底暴露出来。医院超负荷运作,供应链中断,医护人员身心俱疲,即使拥有现代科技与医疗系统,全球依然陷入混乱。

埃博拉与 COVID 并不一样。

COVID 之所以迅速蔓延,是因为它能够透过空气传播,而且许多人在没有症状时就已经传播病毒。相比之下,埃博拉主要通过体液接触传播,因此在一般公共环境中的传播能力没有 COVID 那么强。

但埃博拉带来的恐惧,却是另一种层面的。

它的死亡率极高,症状也更加严重与可怕。一旦防控失败,当地医疗体系很可能在短时间内迅速崩溃。

这正是我真正担心的地方。

很多人会把一切与 COVID 封锁措施作比较,但如果埃博拉真的失控,社会恐慌可能会是另一种更加沉重的程度。更严格的边境管制、大规模隔离、医院封锁病房、医护人员重新穿上全套防护装备,以及政府在巨大压力下做出的紧急反应。

更大的问题是:

全球医疗体系还能承受下一场大型疫情吗?

确实,有些国家从 COVID 中学到了经验。部分国家加强了紧急应变系统,疫情监测能力也提升了,医院对于大型疫情的处理经验比以前成熟。

但与此同时,许多医疗体系依然没有真正从疫情中恢复。全球医护人力短缺问题仍然存在,职业倦怠没有消失,而公众对政府与卫生机构的信任也在下降。

作为与医疗口译行业有关的人,这件事对我来说感触特别深。

很多医疗口译员至今仍然清楚记得 COVID 时期。无止尽的紧急电话、恐惧的病患、在电话另一端哭泣的家属、ICU 更新、死亡通知、混乱、焦虑,以及人们在人生最脆弱时面对的语言障碍。

在那几年里,医疗口译员其实也是“隐形前线人员”。

如果未来再次出现全球性疫情扩散,医疗口译员很可能又会成为医疗体系与弱势群体之间的重要桥梁。

我真心希望事情不要发展到那个地步。

目前来说,埃博拉还不是全球大流行。疫情仍然集中在特定地区,而且专家也不断强调,只要公共卫生措施执行得够快、够严格,埃博拉通常比空气传播病毒更容易控制。

这一点非常重要。

我们不需要陷入恐慌。

但我们也绝对不能再次掉以轻心。

COVID 教会世界的一件事,就是在这个高度连接的时代里,任何疫情都不会永远只是“别人的问题”。

真正的考验,不是在系统崩溃后人类有没有能力补救。

真正的考验,是我们是否终于学会,在崩溃之前采取行动。
